The Giver, by Lois Lowry

The Giver follows the story of Jonas, an 11 year old, who is going for his first Assignment.  In Jonas' world, everything is the same: however when Jonas receives his assignment his is given the honor to become the Reveiver.  Jonas receives memories of the past world from the Giver.  Soon, Jonas begins to question the Sameness and makes a decision that changes everything.

I liked this book because it brings up the idea of Sameness: the conflict that "differences" are unique (it's what makes normal, normal).
