Tucker MacBean is just a normal boy who loves comics. But his problems are severe, including a torn family. Everyday, Tucker must take care of his little brother while his mom is struggling at college. One day, in Tuckers favorite comic he sees a page that advertised a contest that said to create a sidekick for Tucks favorite hero, H2O. The winner gets a scholarship. Tucker creates Bean Boy, an ordinary student that eats powerful beans that give him the power of Bean. While working on the comic, Tucker becomes a very respecting student. He even manages to get the grumpiest girl in school happy. Finally, Tucker arrives at home to find he won the scholarship and his mom had won a scholarship from an essay.
I liked this book because it was realistic fiction and something like this can happen to anyone.
Two other books I think someone else would enjoy are:
Blood on the River AND Sign of the Beaver
This reviewer has a graphic novel posted on the Game ON! bulletin board in the Children's Department at the Russell Library! Come and check it out.
